About
Chiara Negrello (1995) is a freelance photographer and Canon Ambassador. Born in Rovigo, Italy, she graduated in photography from LABA ( Liberal Academy of Fine Arts) in Florence in 2017. After freelancing for a few years, in 2020-2021 she attended the Documentary Practice and Visual Journalism Program at the International Center of Photography in New York supported by the scholarship awarded by Reuters. In April 2021 she became a member of “Women Photograph” and in October 2021 she was selected for the Eddie Adams Workshop XXXIV.
As a storyteller, the subject of her research is social justice, which Chiara explores through stories that are mainly related to womanhood, to everyday life and to the intimate human space.
Her work, which mixes photography and video, have been published by: The New York Times, National Geographic, The Washington Post, Vanity Fair, D la Repubblica, Mareverlag, NPR, El Pais, MarieClaire, Der Spiegel, Burn Magazine, Focus among others and has been exhibited in collective and solo exhibitions in Italy and abroad.
In March 2022 Chiara has been nominated as Newcomer for the Leica Oskar Barnack.
In June 2022 Chiara has been selected as the recipient for the The Rita and Alex Hillman Foundation Fellowship to support her project about the Ukrainian community in Italy.
She teaches seminars about photography and multimedia storytelling in partnership with Canon and independently. Some examples includes: Jack London, literature and photography school and Scuola Mohole, and Italian high schools.
She is now based in the Philippines.
